The Healthcare Summit:

Obama and the Dems realized, too late, that they invited the smart Republicans to their Kabuki theater, and it resulted in a major Oh sh#t moment they did not expect.

Obama was obviously shocked at how the Republicans were so business-like prepared.   Obama had to do most of the talking because Reid and Pelosi made complete asses out of themselves.

Barack Obama, the great stage-master, screwed up.  He had it all planned that the Republicans would just come to whine and bitch.  Instead, they brought ideas.  He was caught by surprise.  He was not ready for real ideas and solid thinking. 

Even when directly addressed, Obama WOULD NOT respond or answer questions.

Paul Ryan, Republican congressman from Wisconsin, and one of the strongest, brightest conservatives to arrive on the scene, takes Obama on.....face to face with facts.

Notice at about 3:39, Obama has that "Oh sh#t" look that clearly has him asking himself why he decided to do this......

Here is Paul Ryan, again, heavily armed with logic and facts.

Rather than defend his own healthcare plan, Obama moves to change the subject.

John McCain lays out specific concerns he's heard from constituents, and reminds Obama about something they both agreed upon during the campaign....transparency and openness in government.

Obama was not prepared to actually have to defend something he said.

So he gets snotty and tells McCain, "We're not campaigning anymore..... the election's over."

Even the Obama fan club at CNN had to admit that the Republicans came to play.......

CNN’s WOLF BLITZER: “It looks like the Republicans certainly showed up ready to play.”

 

CNN’s GLORIA BORGER: “The Republicans have been very effective today. They really did come to play. They were very smart....They took on the substance of a very complex issue. … But they really stuck to the substance of this issue and tried to get to the heart of it and I think did a very good job.....They came in with a plan. They mapped it out.”

CNN’s DAVID GERGEN: “The folks in the White House just must be kicking themselves right now. They thought that coming out of Baltimore when the President went in and was mesmerizing and commanding in front of the House Republicans that he could do that again here today. That would revive health care and would change the public opinion about their health care bill and they can go on to victory. Just the opposite has happened......“He [Obama] doesn’t have a strong Democratic team behind him.”

A.B. STODDARD: “I think we need to start out by acknowledging Republicans brought their ‘A Team.’ They had doctors knowledgeable about the system, they brought substance to the table, and they, I thought, expressed interest in the reform.  I thought in the lecture from Senator John McCain and on the issue of transparency, I thought today the Democrats were pretty much on their knees.”

In 2005, Obama and other senate Democrats railed about Republicans using the 51-vote "nuclear option" to pass legislation.

Now, Obama and many of the same Democrats are threatening to use the 51-vote "nuclear option" to pass ObamaCare, which they know would not pass any other way, and they know that 60+% of Americans don't want it

Clarifying the Conservative Message

For too long, we have allowed the White House, the Democrats and the media define what Conservatives believe.

• They say we are racists, homophobes and xenophobes.

• They say we are unpatriotic.

• They say we promote hate.

• They say we have no compassion for those in need.

In recent weeks, two vital documents have been published defining conservatism and the objectives of conservative governance.

There is a lot of commonality in the beliefs and goals in the Mount Vernon Statement, and the Contract from America.

The Manhattan Declaration is a "Call of Christian Conscience" which speaks in defense of the sanctity of life, traditional marriage, and religious liberty.

These statements ARE NOT meant to be a "litmus test" for candidates. 

The purpose of these statements is for CONSERVATIVES to define and clarify CONSERVATIVE positions rather than to leave it up to Keith Olberman, Katie Couric, Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid to define political and social conservatism.

Obama's LIES, half-truths and distortions from the State of the Union are exposed in this video from the Cato Institute.

Back in 2008, the Republicans attempted to introduce smart healthcare reform that gave citizens the opportunity to choose any plan they wanted, with no mandate and no prison time if you chose no coverage.

But it was easier for the Democrats and Obama to just call the Republicans the "party of  NO".

Last night, Obama said he welcomed ideas.  But he was LYING again, like he did many times last night.  He, Pelosi and Reid kept the GOP plan off the floor....never discussed.....never allowed to be debated, voted and rejected.

• Health Care

  • Provides a refundable tax credit — $2,300 for individuals and $5,700 for families — to purchase coverage in any state, and keep it with them if they move or change jobs.

  • Allows Medicaid recipients to take part in the same variety of options by using the tax credit to purchase high-quality care.

• Medicare

  • Establishes and fully funds Medical Savings Accounts for low-income beneficiaries to cover out-of-pocket costs, while continuing to allow all beneficiaries, regardless of income, to set up tax-free MSAs.

• Social Security

  • Offers workers under 55 the option of investing over one third of their current Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts, similar to the Thrift Savings Plan available to federal employees.

• Tax Reform

  • Provides taxpayers a choice of how to pay their income taxes – through existing law, or through a highly simplified income tax system that fits on a postcard with just two rates and virtually no special tax deductions, credits or exclusions (except the health care tax credit).

  • Promotes saving by eliminating taxes on interest, capital gains and dividends and eliminates the death tax.

• Job Training
  • Performance measures will be developed to make sure the 49 job training programs, scattered across eight federal agencies, will prepare the nation’s workforce for a global economy. States will also have more flexibility in determining how to allocate program funds.

Pam Tebow refused that advice and her son became a Heisman Trophy winner and led his Florida team to two national championships.

In Michigan on 10/2/09, Obama said...."I will finally end the abuse of no-bid contracts once and for all.  The days of sweetheart deals for Halliburton will be over when I'm in the White House."

"Completely Unacceptable" as long as it is only a campaign promise.....because Obama has proven time and again that what he says has no bearing on what he does.

10 days AFTER the attack.....

10 days AFTER the Underpants Bomber was thrown in jail.....

Obama and Hillary FINALLY revoke the bomber's visa.

• On November 19th the CIA learned the Underpants Bomber's father contacted our embassy in Abuja.

• His name was put on a "watch list".

• He was still allowed to keep his visa and travel to the United States.

• He buys a one-way ticket, paid for in cash.

• He had no luggage to check.

• He had no passport.

• He tried to detonate a bomb, but was stopped by a passenger.

All this is information was known on Christmas Day, and the Obama State Dept doesn't revoke the bomber's visa until yesterday.

On the same day, within an hour of each other, the two people who have Obama's ear on the economy cannot even tell us if the recession is over or not.   They have no clue.

According to the Iraqi police officer, Yehiya Kadoori Hamoodi claimed that during the interrogation, soldiers under West's supervision assaulted him attempting to get him to talk.

The police officer insisted that he did not know anything about planned attacks and was loyal to the United States Army. However, when the detainee didn't talk, Lieutenant Colonel West fired his 9mm pistol close to the man's head and at this point, the man, according to some mainstream media such as CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/12/12/sprj.nirq.west.ruling/), gave information about a planned ambush, resulting in its being thwarted. According to West, there were no further ambushes on U.S. forces in Taji until he was relieved of command on October 4, 2003.

Asked if he would have act differently if under similar circumstances again, West testified, "If it's about the lives of my soldiers at stake, I'd go through hell with a gasoline can."

"In more serious news, President Obama last night ordered 30,000 more troops into Afghanistan, to fight the Taliban, but on an 18-month timetable. In a related story, the Taliban announced they're on a 19-month timetable."

Another strong conservative Republican endorses Conservative Party candidate in NY.

SC Sen. Jim DeMint decries the media-fueled notion that, in order to be popular, Republicans have to be like Democrats.

"Too often, we’re told that Republicans have to be like Democrats to be competitive in states like New York, Pennsylvania and Florida.

 "But the truth is voters don’t want to be forced to pick between two liberals; they want a real choice. If voters want to give Washington more control over our lives, they can always vote for Democrats.

 "Americans fundamentally believe in the principles of freedom and liberty, that we as individuals have the responsibility and the right to live our lives without the heavy hand of government on our shoulders. I hope voters in New York will stand with Doug Hoffman and his commitment to fight for these principles of freedom.”

Liberals have found the value of "owning" the politics of this crucial Virginia/North Carolina region that stands between Washington and the rest of the country.

Maybe, someday, so will conservatives.
